Who are the Palestinian Arab citizens of Israel?

Many people think that the gap between Arab and Israeli is too big to bridge in the Holy Land. Yet there are those who have already done just that.

They're Arab citizens of Israel. Many young people inside the country's borders are growing up as Palestinians who don’t live in the West Bank or Gaza but among Jewish Israelis – inside Israel. For the 20% of Israeli citizens who are from Palestinian Arab families, daily life is still a struggle with discrimination, inequality and the need to preserve their identity. But with greater opportunites than their cousins in the Occupied Territories, these young people could hold the key to bridging the cultural divide in the Middle East – because they already do.

The Elijah Trust works to support the efforts of the Arab community in Israel to build peace while seeking justice, through education and understanding. You could help to support a new generation of peacemakers in the Holy Land, by supporting us.
